RESPONSIBLE FOR BROKEN HEARTS EVERYWHERE!!

As I mentioned in the first of the bias appreciation series, there are multiple personas that make up a boy band. Of course I started with my favorite – the Bad Boy! And today we tackle the HEARTTHROB – a specific boy band member capable of wrecking biases and breaking hearts everywhere!

The heartthrob is usually one of the centre figures of a boy band – the “visual” with classic good looks, outgoing personality, a good dancer, usually one of the main singers – and more often than not, positioned in the centre of the photos and music videos. This does NOT mean the heartthrob is the main singer or front man, because as all of us boy band fans know, it takes multiple talents, personalities and looks to make up a true boy band!

So, lets take a look at my Top 5 FAVORITE Boy Band Heartthrobs:

5. Justin Timberlake – NSYNC

I don’t often talk about NSYNC (as a die hard BSB fan, it is unheard of), but this top 5 would be incomplete without Mr. Timberlake. He really was the main singer of NSYNC, (yes, I know I’m contradicting what I said above), had the best dance moves (and still does) and even during the phase of crazy frosted tips and Canadian tuxedo outfits with Ms. Spears, was still unbelievably good looking. Heartthrob to the core.

4. Brian Littrell – Backstreet Boys

From the very start of the Backstreet Boys, Brian was positioned as the heartthrob – as a main singer with traditional good looks, clean cut image, super positive, outgoing attitude, and a charming southern accent to go with it! He settled down young – in the middle of BSB’s rise to stardom – after meeting his wife Leanne on the set of BSB video, and has been married for 20 years already! And this heartthrob’s committed, romantic side just makes us love him even more!!

3. Harry Styles – One Direction

Before all of his solo success, (and 2020 has definitely been his year with Adore You and Watermelon Sugar at the top of the charts), Harry was the resident heartthrob of One Direction. Don’t get me wrong – I think most of 1D members could have filled the role, but for me Harry did it the best with his absolute killer voice, unassuming good looks, flamboyant fashion sense and above all else his charming personality! I think he is genuinely a nice guy and even though he is now insanely rich, I’m pretty sure he is the same person he was when he auditioned for the X-Factor at 16. Really, watching any interview with Harry – especially on the Late Late Show – solidifies his heartthrob status.

2. V – BTS

Real name Kim Taehyung, he is one of the vocalists in BTS. He wasn’t originally positioned as the heartthrob of BTS, but with seven members and seven years, it is to be expected that they shift personas slightly over time. Over the last couple years, (and especially during the most recent Dynamite era) we have really seen him step to the forefront and into the heartthrob territory! His personality is said to be quirky, and he is known for his soulful voice and his looks – both as fashion trend-setter, and as the most handsome man in the world in 2020 (voted by the public, beating out Zayn Malik, Chris Hemsworth and Robert Pattinson for the honor!). Yep – I don’t disagree there!

1. Jordan Knight – NKOTB

Jordan Knight was the original heartthrob – with his long ponytail, insane dance moves and ability to hit those high notes – he checks all the boxes! I’m pretty sure he had one of the most passionate blockhead following back in the 80s and early 90s – and when NKOTB reunited in 2008, those fans were back! Especially when he resurrected his iconic Baby I Believe In You act – and if it’s possible, was even MORE FIT than the original! P.S. I involuntarily screamed when watching the video in the link above – that’s the sign of true heartthrob!!

Now that I’ve shared my favorites, who is your all time favorite boy band HEARTTHROB??
