‘Tis the season….for boy band holiday songs! And there have been a fair number of holiday songs over the years! Sometimes original works, and sometimes covers of Christmas classics the way ONLY a boy band could cover them – harmonized and synthesized! But ALWAYS able to put a true boy band fan in the festive spirit!
So, as we are a couple days away from Christmas, I thought I would give a quick breakdown of some of the best boy band holiday tunes!
Band Aid (featuring One Direction) – Do they know it’s Christmas?

Any one who knows me well knows I am a sucker for this song! I loved the original back in the 80’s (especially the Boy George, Simon Le Bon and George Michael parts!), and how all the stars came together for a great cause. And so when they remade the song in 2014 for another AMAZING cause – and added some boy band participants – I was hooked! Sadly, One Direction never put out a full holiday album so we have to make do with their participation on this song – but I’m ok with that! And this will continue to be played at extremely loud volume all season long!
98 Degrees – This Gift

Ok – as you know, I’m not the biggest 98 Degrees fan, but I remember listening to The Gift all holiday long when I was in high school! I give the band a lot of credit for this original Christmas song and while I didn’t give the rest of the album much time, I definitely had this song on repeat on my CD player for the full month of December – and probably longer!
New Kids on the Block – This One’s for the Children
The NKOTB Merry Merry Christmas album was a formative one for me. I got it when I was in elementary school and many of the songs are burned into my brain forever (in a good way). The album had some solid holiday cover songs, but best of all had SEVERAL original songs including Merry, Merry Christmas, Funky, Funky Xmas and of course – my ultimate favorite – This One’s for the Children. I LOVE this song (and the video) – it’s still so catchy and I think it stands the test of time!
