Not a boy band, but still a boy band – Glass Tiger

If you haven’t heard of Glass Tiger, you need to stop what you’re doing and immediately watch this OR this OR this! Are those not the catchiest songs and most AMAZING music videos ever?

Glass Tiger

Glass Tiger are one of my favorite bands, and while not a boy band in the traditional sense, they have a lot of boy band elements going for them. For example, they have a string of ‘make you want to dance pop hits‘, they set a ton of trends with their amazing permed mullets and layered neon outfits, and had fans around the world screaming and singing along at their shows!

Formed in 1983 in Ontario Canada, the band is made up of Scottish/Canadian front man Alan Frew, with Wayne, Sam, Al and Michael playing bass, keyboard, guitar and drums respectively. They released their first album, The Thin Red Line in 1986, and immediately hit the charts with Don’t Forget Me When I’m Gone and Someday. They put out two more albums in the late 80s, early 90s – Diamond Sun and Simple Mission – and have recently regrouped and put out a couple more albums.

Glass Tiger was a bit before my time but I was lucky that my parents had The Thin Red Line tape, so growing up I was listening to them early! And it wasn’t long before I had stolen my parent’s tape and went out and bought the other Glass Tiger albums with my allowance. And when they went on tour in 2019 with Corey Hart, I was lucky enough to be able to FINALLY see them in concert!

My favorite Glass Tiger tunes are You’re What I look For, The Thin Red Line and I’m Still Searching – but generally, any Glass Tiger song is a good one, especially if you need a pick me up or something to get you moving! ENJOY!
